Frequently Asked Questions
What tools do you use to train with?
We use various training tools based on the dog's needs and how they will respond best. We'll educate you on any recommended tools and collaborate with you to create a training plan that suits both you and your dog. Common tools include slip leads, flat collars, long lines, and muzzles.
What are your qualifications?
I have several years of pet care experience and have worked with a variety of dog breeds. Currently, I am in the process of completing my Level 1 and 2 Dog Training Certificate through Method K9, and I am certified in Dog CPR and First Aid. In addition, I plan to attend more seminars in the New Year and the International Association of Canine Professionals conference in July. I am also a member of the IACP.
I need to board my dog, who do you recommend?
If house sitting is an option, I highly recommend someone from CD-Pet Care. They are kind, trustworthy, and will treat your pets like their own. If house sitting isn’t available, I suggest considering Pets On The Go Paw Resort, Air’s Pet Care, or Innisfail Boarding.
Do you take all dogs?
For most services, I do accept unfixed dogs, but I cannot take in females in heat. Regarding training, if your dog has severe aggression or behavioral issues, I may refer you to a different trainer. While I aspire to help with all behavioral issues, I am mindful of my limits and always prioritize the best care for your dog.
When should I get training for my dog?
I believe every dog needs training, and waiting until issues arise to address them is doing a disservice to the dog. Skills like impulse control, proper exposure, and recall should be non-negotiable, as they are key to setting dogs up for success. I also strongly believe that regular exercise and fulfilling a dog’s natural drive are essential to their overall happiness and well-being.
